Manas opened on 2 October and Kaziranga on 3 October, with Pobitora following on 13 October. Kaziranga's safari rates are unchanged and elephant safaris are expected from 1 November.
Assam's wildlife season is open. Manas National Park reopened on 2 October, Kaziranga on 3 October, and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary follows on 13 October, according to the state government. The parks close every year for the monsoon, when floods cover much of the grassland.

Kaziranga: ranges, timings and rates
Jeep safaris run in the Central range at Kohora and the Western range at Bagori, with entry from 7:30 to 10:00 am and 1:30 to 3:00 pm, under the reopening notice from the Divisional Forest Officer. The Eastern (Agaratoli) and Burapahar ranges will open later, in phases. Elephant safaris are expected from 1 November.
Safari rates for 2026–27 are unchanged from last season after the Assam chief minister put a proposed increase on hold in September. Carry original government photo ID to the gate.
What it means for travellers
- October is quieter and greener, but the grass is tall and some tracks are still being repaired.
- Mid-November to February is peak season, when all ranges and elephant safaris are open. Book early.
